Christmas Skype (then terrible Google Hangout since Skype wouldn't work)

Hey!

I`m sorry that Skype was terrible yesterday. Not that it was terrible to do Skype, just that Skype itself was bad. It was nice to see you even though you couldn`t see me, and I imagine that it was nice to hear me even though I couldn`t hear you very well hahaha. Well this week was awesome. I forgot to tell you guys on Skype, but I got the opportunity to baptize someone last Wednesday. Her name is Sasha. She`s 16 and the niece of a recent convert. She is always at his house so we started teaching her the lessons and put a baptismal date with her. Then we learned where she lived and it wasn`t in the branch so we had to pass her along to the sister missionaries in the other branch, where they finished the lessons and then got her baptized. She decided that she wanted me to baptize her so I got to do it. That was probably the coolest experience of the week, other than Christmas. I thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers this year. This year my companion told people that I like Hotwheels cars so I got like 10 for Christmas hahaha it was awesome. Things are going great here. We have changes here tomorrow, but I`m not going anywhere and niether is my companion. We are still here in Los Jardìnes, Buin. I love you all. Thank you for everything. I`ll see you in about 5-6 months!

Merry Christmas from the Chile Rancagua Mission

Dear Parents and family of Elder Sayler,

Merry Christmas from the Chile Rancagua Mission. During the month of December our missionaries have been busy sharing the message, “Ilumina el Mundo”, “25 Ways in 25 Days.” The video on mormon.org has been a great way to start conversations about the gospel and following Jesus Christ.
For our December zone conferences the missionaries have come to the mission home and prepared a program of music and scripture messages about Jesus Christ. We then shared our program at care centers and drug rehabilitation centers. The missionaries and the audiences were touched by the message of the Savior.
Thank you for the love and support that you give your missionary. We love Elder Sayler and we are thankful that he is serving in our mission.

Merry Christmas!
President and Sister Harris

The Recharged Super Week of Power

Hey!

¡¡¡MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! This Sunday is Christmas and I`m super excited to see you again. It has been a long time.

This week has been a super good week. We challenged everyone in the zone to a thing called ``La Super Semana de Poder Recargada`` translated roughly to ´´The Recharged Super Week of Power`` We printed off a paper that had goals and scriptures and quotes from Preach My Gospel and everything. It was super powerful when we shared it because we shared a video with Elder Eyering and Elder Holland talking about the Atonement and Mission Work. Then we all committed to the goals and the numbers and the people that are included in the week. We saw so many miracles, it was incredible. First of all, we were able to achieve all of the goals, which is a miracle because ever since we set the new mission goals we haven`t been able to achieve them. We found 10 new people to teach this week and invited people to be baptized and felt the Spirit so strongly the whole week long. We got to yesterday and we still were lacking four more lessons with investigators with members present, so one member, one of the best members in the entire branch, accompanied us from 5:30 to 10:00 to be able to achieve our goals. We were so thankful to have so much help for that. I learned a lot last week. I learned how to work hard, smart, and make miracles from our faith. I am so indebted to the Lord and I love this work so much.

I`m excited to see you guys again this week and I hope that everything goes well with Christmas. I love you all!

Capilla Abierta, Christmas Program and Destroying 'Inappropriate Pictures'

 Hello!

We finally figured out a way to send pictures! I sent a few, but we will continue taking more and sending them over when we can. This week was super great. We had a ton of trainings and stuff to do, but it was super spiritual regardless. We had zone trainings and were able to revise the goals that we have as a mission and see how we are doing. Then we did a training on how to do the new program, ´´Capilla Abierta´´ which is just an awesome type of open house of a chapel. We have one coming up here in Buin this Saturday. It is an awesome way to help people get to know the gospel and what the Mormons believe. On Friday we had a zone conference in Rancagua with President and Hermana Harris. We practiced a Christmas program and then went to a nursing home to perform it for the people living there. We were able to sing classic Christmas hymns like Silent Night and Away in a Manger, but also mix it with other songs like Savior, Redeemer of My Soul by Josh Groban. The Spirit was so strong and you could just feel the love that God has for every one of His children. The other day we were able to teach an alcoholic that wants to change his life. He is trying to quit drinking and change his life. We taught him about the love of God for His children and he asked us how to feel the love of God more. He had a ton of...inappropriate pictures...all over his walls. We told him that after we left he should get rid of them so that he can feel God´s love. He stood up and destroyed all of them in that very moment, just to show us and God that he wants to change his life. After that we could feel the Spirit so strongly as a testimony that God loves us and he wants us to be better than we are. I love the mission. I love you all and am excited to see you soon in two weeks!

Cemented Cat Poop Removal = Hammer + Bar and a LOT of Pounding

Hey!

Sorry about last week, we only had 15 minutes in ciber to write because of a ton of stuff that we were doing. Today we have a little more time. This week was a little slow, but still really good. We were able to see a lot of miracles. We walked around a lot, but at the same time we were able to give out a ton of Book of Mormon`s and see the Lord help out a ton of people. On Friday we had a huge service with a less active from the church and the sister missionaries. We went to the lady`s house and the service was to clean it. It was a terrible mess. She is an older lady that doesn`t see very well and raises a TON of cats. We went in to clean. It was supposed to be an hour long, but we were there for three hours and we didn`t even finish. I got assigned the bathroom. I literally had a hammer and a small bar of rebar trying to pick the cemented cat poop from off of the floor. It was a mess. But. The miracle is that even though the place was a mess and it was one of the grossest floors that I have ever seen, it was a blessing to see how service from the  Lord blesses the lives of the individuals who will receive it. The sister was so grateful for the service and we could feel that she was happier and the Spirit of the Lord had entered her house a lot more just for the small act of service that we could give. i love service. And now, with the new Christmas initiative #LIGHTtheWORLD we have the opportunity to do service every day. I love the mission. I love you all and thanks for being patient with me for last week.

Love,

Elder Sayler

#LIGHTtheWORLD

Hey So we just got to the ciber, but we have to open the chapel for somebody and do some other stuff so I don`t know if I will be able to write very much this week. My companion is named Èlder Arràzola. We are still in Buin. We are working super hard and are seeing a lot of miracles. Every day is a great day, especially now that it isn`t cold haha. Our Thanksgiving was...normal? The Chileans don`t celebrate it so we didn`t do anything really. Our investigators are all progressing really well and we have at least two baptisms coming up if everything goes well. I`m super excited for this Christmas (even though its going to be my last one here in Chile :`( ) because I`ll get to see all of you. This week we were sharing the Christmas Initiative #LIGHTtheWORLD and it is awesome to see how people just light up seeing the Savior serve and seeing how their service is just like service like the Lord did. We are really excited to start the initiative in the beginning of December and learn to serve more like the Savior. I love you all and hope you have a great week. Sorry for not writing so much this week, but I will write next week when we have more time.
Love,
Elder Sayler
