From the Other Side of the "WALL"

Hello. How is life on the other side of the wall? We are doing pretty well on this side, living in the shadows of the wall and Trump`s ego. Haha actually everything is going well. We are all happy and safe and only the drunks try to make fun of us about Trump. This week was a crazy week. We had the changes on Tuesday. Buin doesn`t have a bus station so we have to flag down a bus traveling south on I-5 to send the missionaries down south and the missionaries who come up have to get off at the gas station - so it is a little odd when you are a zone leader and in charge of the changes. On Wednesday we had to go right away to a training in Rancagua. We learned about a new Christmas initiative for this year. It is super cool. Here its called #ILUMINAelMUNDO #LIGHTtheWORLD. It has a great video and an advent calendar focussed on serving others and becoming more like Jesus Christ. Technically, it doesn`t start until this Friday, but in all seriousness I invite you all to ASK THE MISSIONARIES in your area to share the video with you. Its only three minutes, but they will change your life. We are going to participate as missionaries in the advent calendar so I will get to tell you all about the awesome experiences that will come soon and I hope to hear yours, too. On  Thursday we got to work (a little bit) and visited some investigators, especially Sebastian who still has his baptism date for the 3rd of December. He is working so hard its awesome. On Friday we got to be in the chapel all day teaching a training about the Christmas program, so we didn`t even work that day. Saturday and Sunday we had some time to work and we were able to see a ton of miracles. It is incredible that when you trust in the Lord you can always feel his Spirit and his guidance. I love this gospel. I love you all and am excited to see you in about a month. I hope all is well and happy Thanksgiving!

90 degreesčĽÂ, an Earth "Tremble" and, Yes, I am Wearing Sunscreen

Hello Familia!

This week was a pretty great week. I know that everyone is probably wondering about the ``earthquake``. Don`t worry because everyone is fine and it is all good. It was only a 6.4 so they don`t even consider it an earthquake, just a tremble. We were just reading the Book of Mormon with our investigator Sebastian and the house just started to shake and then it stopped. We just kept reading the book because it wasn`t too bad. This week we worked really hard and saw a lot of miracles. First of all, President Harris has given us the assignment to try to give out two Book of Mormons every day. You wouldn`t think it would be that hard to literally GIVE AWAY a FREE book, but it can be a little hard sometimes. Chileans can be stubborn. We persevered all through the week and in the end of the week we ended up giving out 21 Book of Mormons, which was a huge blessing. But, we also ran out of books. We called the offices and they said that they too are out of books and we just have to wait to get more from Salt Lake. Its gonna be hard to give out the books this week, but we have about six more in the house I think. We were able to find 6 more people to teach this week, two different families that want to hear the gospel. This too was a blessing. As a mission we have upped the mission goals a lot and so now its great for us to have as many people to teach as possible. We are in our last week in this change with Elder Shumway. We are working like crazy so we are going to end the change well. We aren`t sure if we are staying together or no so its going to be a surprise this Saturday. I am excited to see the outcome either way. We have been through a lot together (a lot of good and a lot of not so good) so it`ll be an interesting change. I`m so happy that its finally summer here. We are sitting at 85-90 every day up here in Buin so its awesome and really hot. And yes, I am drinking lots of water and using sunscreen. I am excited for Christmas because it feels like it is coming up fast. I can`t wait to see you guys. I love you all and hope you have a great week.

Earthquake

To Parents and families of Elder Sayler:

Yesterday we experienced an earthquake in our mission that measured 6.4 on the Richter Scale. It centered in the Maule area of Chile and was felt strongest in the city of Curic├│ which is part of our mission. We were without phone service for about 2 hours, but there was no significant damage recorded. President Harris has talked with priesthood leaders and zone leaders in the affected areas and all of our missionaries are safe.

Thank you for your support and prayers for your missionaries.

Sincerely,

Chile Rancagua Mission

Short Email, Busy Week

Hello!

This was a crazy week. We had some really low numbers so Elder Shumway and I were super inspired to just get out and work like crazy. So we did. On Friday we had a huge meeting in Rancagua about goals for the mission. We decided that we need to be better as a mission at working and dedication. We raised the mission goals and now are working like crazy. It is incredible to see how a man like President Harris can be so inspired as to know how to guide some 200 young adults in the work of the Lord. We just have to get people excited to work. We had a miracle in these last weeks. The sister missionaries in our branch were going to stop visiting a young man named Sebastian and decided to let us teach him. We visited him and now he is so excited to get baptized. We had a super spiritual lesson with him and now he has come to church every week and is going to have an interview with President Harris this week to make sure he`s worthy and ready to go. His baptism is programmed for the 12th of November. He is reading the Book of Mormon every day and praying as well so it looks like he is going to get to be baptized on that day. We are very grateful to all of the Elders and Sisters that have been working with him for the past 2 years. We are working super hard and are so thankful for all of the prayers and support that we have. I hope that you treat the missionaries as well as they treat us here. I am thankful to the Lord for this opportunity to serve in this mission. I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Love,

Elder Sayler
